Commonwealth Research Centre (CRC) for Aboriginal Health

AMSANT's CRC Officer is employed by the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health and has been located at AMSANT since December 2005 to support the development of Aboriginal community controlled health services and policy.

The CRC Officer's specialty is health policy and his first job in AMSANT was to develop an AMSANT paper to explore resource centre 'hub' support arrangements for the Aboriginal community controlled health sector for consideration of members and government departments.

Since then, he has been involved in a number of issues that confront AMSANT, with particular reference to inter-government relations and matters to do with sector reform on matters of governance, quality and funding.

His work in the two years has included development of papers on:

  • Indigenous primary health care reform;

  • A regional health service proposal for the Barkly region;

  • Assistance to the Barkly Combined Aboriginal Organisations in responding to local government reforms;

  • Supporting AMSANT on several technical working groups;

  • and Providing technical and policy support to the CEO of the CRC, Mick Gooda.
